FireFly

I am drawn to you like a firefly to dazzling lights
My body and heart goes to war
My wings expand flutter and soar
The heat draws me near with it’s enthralling beauty
The beating of my heart gets louder with every flutter
The battle with the porch light absorbs me
Passionately intrigued I am
I sense the danger but quench the warmth
I sense the hurt but interested in its glow
“Still light!, flicker!, Blink!”
Not one distraction
You have my full attention
My interest misunderstood
Its strength is constant and alluring
The light bright and blinding
These emotions I’m fighting
My passion is poisoned
My future inevitable
So I charge in knowing the outcome
And slowly I die
Trapped in the net of heat
Broken hearted my eyes close
The light flickers too late
My wings flutter no more
